Senior Soccer Night
Friday, October 10, 2014 was a smashing success for both the fans and the boy’s soccer team. Although the weather was cold, dark, and rainy, the seniors’ hard work and dedication stole the hearts of Mascoutah soccer fans and wowed the crowd. Unfortunately, Mascoutah lost the game against Highland resulting in a final score of 3-1, but the effort put into playing the other team was astonishing. According to Charles Cunningham, “I feel we all could have done better than we played. I mean, we lost! Honestly, Highland’s a team we could beat if we really wanted to. We just weren't all there that game. We just needed to talk to each other more during the game and play harder." He also commented on the dreary weather the soccer team competed through that night. "Well, it was way more fun to play in the rain, at first. It kept us from overheating and it was fun just slipping and sliding around in the mud. But after awhile it started to become a nuisance because it made the ball feel heavy. If you weren't on the field than you were freezing on the bench.” Charles continued to express his plans for college and if he will play sports or not. “I'm thinking about going to college, but mostly to run track. If the college I choose let’s me play soccer, then yes, I'll look into it.” The journalism staff wishes the best of luck to the soccer team on the rest of your fall season. Play hard, get rough, and shoot for the goal.
