Recently, JROTC members went through a process known as external evaluation. This process, which occurs every four to five years, involves an official from the headquarters of ROTC visiting in order to assess the progress of Mascoutah High School’s JROTC. The official gauges organization, uniform numbers, teacher qualifications, and drills. The students involved prepared extensively for this evaluation by taking inventory and cleaning out old text books. Also, students who met specific qualifications prepared throughout the year for drilling inspections. In addition to these preparations, the top ranking JROTC members from MHS presented a briefing to the official.
Core Commander Nikki Gomez, along with the rest of JROTC, is extremely pleased with the results of this year’s external evaluation. When asked about the evaluation, she proudly stated, “Evaluation went great, we received an exceeds standards in every aspect of ROTC”. Also, the ROTC official felt especially pleased with the presentations made by Nikki Gomez and her team. Overall, Mascoutah High School’s ROTC triumphed in this year’s external evaluation.
