Meet the New Tribe Talk
Kiara Stewart
As the second semester kicks off and schedule changes set in, tribe talk itself has gotten a new cast and crew. Tribe talk is a broadcasting based class that brings the students of Mascoutah High School the announcements for each day and is run by Mrs. Etter and Mr. Doering. It helps students work on their communication skills, learn to speak in front of the cameras, and unlock their “creative” sides. This is the class’s second year running and not only does it bring the announcements, but feature reports, the weather, and upcoming schedules of things like sports. Tribe talk also takes on larger projects such as the annual lip dub and the senior video. This class generally has two parts: the broadcasting side, headed by Mrs. Etter and the AV production side, lead by Mr. Doering.
Even some of the old members of Tribe Talk could not stay away for long and joined the AV production portion of the class, to help with editing video clips. Overall, the new cast seems pretty excited to take on Tribe Talk and add their own touch. The second semester group has a decently large class and will be sure to bring lots of personality to the greenscreen. As quoted by Sarah Peters, “ I think it will be a lot of fun and I’m really excited to work with Mrs. Etter. She’s very lighthearted, excited, and helpful when it comes to working with our broadcasting productions.” Even two of the Spirit Newspaper’s lead editors, Kalli Morris and Mackenzie Schuessler, have joined the team. They were both quoted as “being super excited for the opportunity and getting to broadcast to the student body.” They also stated that they won’t be changing Tribe Talk too much, but are aiming for a more “professional” look. Everyone is thrilled to see what the new Tribe Talk has to offer and can’t wait to see what awesome feature reports are made this semester.
