And the winner is...the Mascoutah Varsity Dance Team!

On February 14, 2015, the MHS Dance team took home the gold, or in this case, the glass trophy, for the 2015 TDI State dance competition. The tournament took place in DeKalb, Illinois and our girls competed in the class 1A open poms division.
TDI stands for "Team Dance Illinois" and this year it was held in DeKalb, Illinois at Northern Illinois University (NIU). The competition was a one day event with 27 teams in total competing in various categories, including open poms, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, and many others.
It took a lot of hard work and dedication, but our MHS dance team took the challenge and came out with a win. All of the practice and effort paid off, and it paid off really well. Blakeley Reiff, one of the captains of the dance team, was quoted as saying, " The overall experience was like no other. Being up against teams like Jacksonville, Triad, and Winnebago was no doubt a tough competition. But in the end, knowing our hard work paid off made the enjoyment of awards so much better. Hearing our name called last, for first place, was absolutely amazing. Also knowing that we can maybe even begin a tradition of achieving first, is great. Hopefully we can keep this title and win it again in the years to come. " Another dance team member, Madie Smith said " It was unbelievable at first. All of our hard work and practices finally paid off. I wouldn't have wanted to spend this experience with anybody else."
It was definitely a surreal, exciting time for the girls and Mascoutah as a whole, was very proud of the fantastic win. Congratulations girls and way to go!
