Senior Night 2K15
Kiara Stewart
Every season and within every sport, there comes a time when the seniors of the team must bid goodbye to playing on their home court, field or etc...This day is also known as SENIOR NIGHT. During the usual ceremonies, each senior is announced and recognized along with their parents. And from there, they play their last home game as a Mascoutah Indian. The night is often described as bittersweet; sweet, because of the great feeling of having accomplished so much within your athletic program and bitter, because of the fact that you're playing your last high school home game.
This year, senior night for a few sports was held Thursday, February 27, 2015. It not only included the basketball boys, but the cheerleaders and dance team as well. There was a total of 17 seniors honored that day.
The main event after the annual senior ceremony was the Mascoutah Indians vs. Jerseyville Panthers varsity basketball game. Our boys went on to beat the Panthers in overtime, 59-53, in a very exciting and close game.
Here are a few seniors' testimonies to their thoughts and feelings of senior night!
-Ali Linck (a varsity boys basketball manager): "Well I think it was fun because we won. But I felt like it wasn't as exciting as football was. It kind of felt rushed too. I wish we got to do like some other schools and actually explain what everyone is involved in and stuff. But the game made it perfect!"
- Tori Hodge (varsity cheerleader): "I personally have been waiting so long for senior night. It's definitely bittersweet, filled will happy and sad tears. The fact that we won in overtime made it that much more special."
- Blakeley Reiff (varsity dance team member): "Knowing it was the last time I would dance on that floor was something I couldn't explain. In that moment it wasn't that real, but afterwards it hit me. I'm so proud to have been a part of such an amazing team, with an amazing coach, and an amazing student body and faculty behind us, supporting us along our journey. They supported us from football season all the way through our final championship at TDI. All I can say is that I am proud to be from Mascoutah and even more proud to have danced on this team."
Mascoutah as a whole is very proud of its seniors and we'd like to congratulate each and every senior for their hard work and dedication to their team, tribe and family. The seniors honored that night are as follows:
