Post ACT

For most, the stress and anxiety of taking the dreaded ACTs is over and now begins the just-as-painful, waiting for test results. This past Tuesday, Mascoutah's juniors took the ACT. In previous years, MHS has offered an ACT Prep class for juniors that replaces their study hall. This year, due to budgeting, no prep class was offered. There have been mixed feelings about this change. The ACTion classes in previous years had mixed feelings and various results. Some students benefited greatly from the extra help while others saw no difference. This year's juniors had to fend for themselves and do what they could to prepare for Tuesday's test. Aylissa Skimehorn says, "I definitely think the ACTion class would have helped a ton. The real test was harder than I thought it would be." "Our English teachers did help us some and gave us practice passages and test taking techniques so we weren't completely on our own" Maddie Nekola adds. Overall, most students are positive about their tests. Kennedy Bryant says, “I have a feeling I did pretty well but let’s wait and see till i get my scores back.”
