Spring Sports

It’s that time of year again, Spring Sports!

For awhile now Mascoutah softball has not been the best, but this year they are currently 5-1. In an interview with Coach Frank Evans he said, “Our goal this year is to win 20 games, win the regional, and also win conference.” The starting lineup is looking strong and softball is very confident about this year. Maddie Nekola said, “I am very excited to play this year, the atmosphere is different and it is exciting.”

Batter up for Baseball, the baseball team has lost some of its strongest players. Wyatt Elbe said, “Although we did lose many strong players I have a great feeling about this year.” When Connor Waltsgott was asked what he was looking forward to most this year he said, “I am looking forward to playing at Busch Stadium, it is just the best experience ever.” After going to a couple of games the writer thinks that the baseball team looks good this year with pitching and catching.

Girls soccer had a rough time because their soccer field is very muddy and hard to play in, but their record is currently 1-3. Kiara Stewart says, “We have a very young team but we are looking good.” Coach Carr said he has expectations for this year that he hopes will be met by the end of the season.

Run Forrest run all the way over to a Mascoutah Track meet. The track teams are the underdogs; they haven’t won a state title in a very long time. Luke Mathews and Bo Schmidt really want to beat Cahokia this year because they always beat Mascoutah. Mr. Hulliung said he really likes his group this year and thinks that they will hopefully win a lot of events this year.
